Characters:
Adol Christin
Age: 24
Nickname: Adol the Adventurer

An extraordinary adventurer who is said to have left adventure logs that amount to over 100 volumes to future generations.
Wanted as a material witness in the case of the Romun Fleet’s disappearance in the Atlas Ocean, he was detained by Romun soldiers in Baldeux, The Prison City.
Adol tried to escape from prison, but ended up involved in a strange incident surrounding the Prison City and Monstrum after running into a mysterious girl wielding a gun.

Dogi
Age: 29
Nickname: The Wall-Crusher

A muscle-flexing wanderer and Adol’s adventuring partner. The punch unleashed from his large physique can crush even a strong wall of rock.
Having accompanied Adol’s adventures for many years, he can calmly respond to strange occurrences and events beyond human comprehension.
After completing his adventure in Altago, he arrived in the Gllia Eldlingen area, a territory of the Romun Empire, but is discovered by Romun soldiers with Adol.

■ Supernatural Actions

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox uses a unique action system that allows Monstrum to utilize their supernatural powers.

These powers can be activated anywhere, including in the city, on the field, and in dungeons, and are useful not only in battle, but also in dungeon puzzles and city exploration. As you gain the cooperation of the Monstrum that appear in Baldeux, The Prison City, the variety of supernatural powers available to you will increase.

Crimson Line

A supernatural power that allows the user to move over a distance in an instant with the release of a crimson line from their left hand. Since the user’s body itself morphs and moves like a shadow, it can even penetrate obstacles such as rocks and thick iron walls. If you are lined up with an enemy when the ability is activated, you can spring out at them and deal damage.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is due out for PlayStation 4 on September 26 in Japan.

  1. Ah. Ys V. The game that I want to play, but never got released in English. I hope one day they remake it or at least localize it so I can play it

  2. Good to see a summary of that series.

Only one that caught my interest was Ys 6. Maybe it'll get a port or sth. alike.

Never knew Ys Online existed but I guess it got shut down since 2009? It's been a while since back then.

Loved 8, Looking forward to the PS4 Celceta Remaster. But the chosen world of Ys9 in this video looks so empty and unfinished … Was that early production footage or is Ys9 a lot emptier than the more detailed 8? …

  3. Bad video… Don't tell it's 1987 while showing the Master Sytem version, made by Sega one year and a half later. Same could be said with Ys II.. Why the MSX2 version ? Do you take those picture randomly ? The first version are on PC-88 or maybe Sharp X1 but it's much rare to find so… Show what Ys looked like at this moment ! There is a LOT of difference between the original release of Ys I and the remake Ys Eternal ( yeah, Ys Eternal and Ys Complete ARE different but granted, nobody care) so please show those two as separate release or i don't understand what's the point of this video ! I mean, someone who don't know Ys see amazing visual for Ys I & II and for Ys IV BAM, everything is worst. That's so strange !

I do understand that you don't want to show remakes because Ys have way too much of them but… Really, Oath in Felghana and especially Memories of Celceta deserves to be here… Only the scenario is the same for Oath and Memories just takes a canon spot in the chronology.

  4. Jogo JRPGs desde 1999 (FFVII, Wild Arms e Breath of Fire 3 foram os primeiros que joguei). Mas só conheci a série Ys em 2014 com Ys: The Oath in Felghana (acho que é um remake do Ys 3). Me apaixonei pela série. Depois joguei Ys VI: The Ark of Napshtim, Ys Origin, Ys Seven e Ys: Memories of Celceta.

  5. The game didn't look anything like that in 1987. The Sega Master System was really primitive. It wasn't until Ys: Book 1 & 2 came out on TurboGrafx-CD did the game shine. It was the first game ever to have a true Redbook CD OST, animated cut scenes, and voice acting.

Here is the scene at the beginning of Book 2 that i recorded back in 2013.

    https://youtu.be/5a0GVtsK7nU

That cut scene was literally the most cutting edge of any video game made at the time.

Here is the final boss music from book 1. https://youtu.be/oH06spHpY-M

The competition from nintendo and sega was beeps and boops like the original mario brothers kinda music. and these guys drop music like this!

    and this! https://youtu.be/FwxyT7sXrNI

  6. When you showed the first 2 YS games why show footage from Ys chronicles instead of the original master system and turbo grafx versions ? Also what's the song at the end ? Sounds amazing like something from guilty gear
